Queue at Krispy Kreme in Bangkok

On Friday, I went shopping at the Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand. I was shopping for a present for some thai friends and walked by the longest queue (or line, to you Americans) I've ever seen. Thinking that there must be a celebrity or something, I went to check out the sitch. What I found, was the most absurd reason for the line- people waiting to buy Krispy Kreme donuts. What is even more absurd is that the line was a couple hours long. All for donuts. Craziness I tell you! Of course, I just had to take a picture! What you can't see, is the there is also a line that extends into the parking lot outside, that is even longer than the one you can see.

I'm not sure if you heard, but the Krispy Kreme in Tokyo made it to the headlines with one of the longest lines in Tokyo. People are just crazy about donuts here, I suppose.

Wedding Dress Update!!

Ok, I am not sure if you read my blog about my wedding dress. Long story short, I am having my wedding dress custom made by hand in Thailand. It was not ready when it was supposed to be and I didn't think it would turn out the way that I wanted it to and I was extremely upset and stressed out.

I voiced my concerns to one of our friends in Asia who happens to know the old Chief of Police in Thailand and his wife, Khun Ying Ann, who is royalty in Thailand. Over the past couple of weeks, they went into the dressmaker's shop several times, making sure it was being worked on and scared the bejesus out of them.

Well, it worked! I arrived at the shop this morning and tried on my dress and it was amazing! It was made exactly the way I wanted it and looked better than the designer one that it was made after. The detailing was gorgeous and I couldn't have asked for a better dressmaker. Although they had to translate everything I said to her, she made it exactly how I wanted it. Not only does it look great, but how many people can say that they know who made their wedding dress and that it was custom made just for them? For years to come, looking back at the pictures of our wedding day is going to remind me of our time abroad. OMG, I am so happy!

The only problem now is, I want to wear it sooner than May 21. I also have that problem with my wedding ring, but that is a whole other story.

Such a happy girl!

And, I must add, Jason you were right! ;)

Aftershocks Felt In Singapore From Indonesian Earthquake- 10/25/2010

I am not sure if any of you heard, but there was an earthquake in our neighboring country, Indonesia, on Monday night around 10:45pm (Monday day for all you Americans). So far over 120 people have died from the tsunami that followed and many others are missing.

Apparently Singapore felt the aftershocks. I say apparently because Jason and I were so severely jet lagged from our trip to the US that we had no clue. Although we heard some crazy thunder and lightening and some strange noises (like nothing we've ever heard), we had no clue what was going on. The even crazier thing is that I had no clue this happened until lunch yesterday (the following day) when my friend Sherry told me all about it. Boy have we been out of it! In our defense, we live in a high rise apartment building that is built to withstand earthquakes and we live on the southern end of the island by HarbourFront. In case you are curious, HERE is just one article about it.

Just thought some of you might be interested in this information.

*I know that when I lived in the US, I was not always current on international news, so no worries if you haven't heard about it. Living abroad has definitely made me current with all international news, as it now affects us more than ever, and I don't think that will ever change. That, and because there really isn't much else to watch on TV. ;)

Stay well my friends!

Airplane Lag

Boy do I have a case of it! You'd think our bodies would be adjusted after traveling all over the world for 6 months.

It is now 7:45am and I have still not gone to sleep. I went to bed yesterday at 12pm and woke up at 6:30pm, so I am not surprised. Poor Jason has had it too, so I can't complain. At least I don't have to go to work like he does.

All night I have been up, watching the same TV shows that we always watch (since we don't get many channels). Some of our favorites are: Cops, Rules of Engagement, Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI, Bones, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, Locked Up Abroad, Cold Case Files and Family Guy. By favorites, I mean the ONLY shows to watch. Oh, and they are all old episodes that are played over and over again. Although I never really watched TV while I lived in the States, it is always nice to have options... and TIVO. It's funny because all of the shows have the season number with the titles too. I am currently watching How I Met Your Mother 3. LOL!

I have also been updating our photo page on our wedding website, since uploading pictures takes a while. If you want to check it out, the website is HERE.

Well, I am going to sign off before I bore you all to tears. Hopefully I can get some shut eye before lunch at 11am with my friend Sherry. Wish me luck!

Dolla Dolla Bills Y'all

While we were in the States, Jason and I went to Jaime and Jesse's knot-tying ceremony in Dahlonega. Jaime was a gorgeous bride by the way!! (PS- it wasn't snowing, my camera sucks!)

After the reception, we all ended up at Shenanigans Irish Pub, which was actually where Jason and I grabbed a couple of beers in Dahlonega on our second date. All around the restaurant people have posted dollar bills with names or whatever on them. The place is covered with them. When I came back from the bathroom, I came back to this on the ceiling.
Isn't Jason the sweetest? Yeah, I think so too! ;)

The Cumming Fair

Lovely name, I know! For those that don't know, that's the name of the city in which it is located (in case you were thinking I was just crazy).

I actually went to the Fair twice this year- once with Jason, Dakota, and Dakota's gf and once with some friends.

The first trip was a lot of fun. It was mine and Jason's first time at the Fair together. I rode a couple of rides and then sat a few out since I started feeling queasy. I never got motion sickness until the last couple of years... must be getting worse with age. Anyway, we had an awesome time walking around and munching on wayyy too much cotton candy.

On my second trip, I went with my old neighbors and we had a blast! Well, that is until I was so queasy from the rides that I almost got sick. This trip made me come to the conclusion that this would be my last hurrah for rides of any kind (without motion sickness pills, at least). I was feeling extra sassy on this trip and even rode the bull. Although I was going to go back and hang out at my old neighbor's house, I had to call it a night early due to my never ending dizziness (which lasted until the next morning at 10am, might I add). It was totally worth it though!

Good times! Can't wait for next year! :)

Halloween 2010

Halloween is very special to Jason and I becausewe met on Halloween last year. While we were home, we attended a Halloween party, which brought back some awesome memories. We had a blast! Here are some pics of the night:

I love you HOAR! So blessed to have you in my life! ;) XOXO

After 29 hours of travel, we have made it back to Singapore. We had such a great time while we were back in the States. It is hard to believe how fast 3 weeks could go by! We were definitely ready to come back to our home in Singapore though. Since we are moving to Austria in January, we are going to try to soak up as much sun as we can before we move to the Alps.

For those that have asked, here are our upcoming travel plans:
-Bangkok, Thailand
-Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
-Shanghai, China
-Sydney, Australia
-Melbourne, Australia
-Singapore
-Bali, Indonesia
-Singapore
-Atlanta

Don't worry, I will be posting pics of our time in the States ASAP. :)

10 Reasons Why I Know I Am Getting Older

1. I can no longer ride fair or amusement park rides without getting nauseous (unless I want to take a motion sickness pill). Trust me, I know this from my last 5 experiences, one being last night (at the Cumming Fair twice, at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, at Orlando's Islands of Adventure, and at Six Flags over Georgia). I kept telling my self that I must have eaten something funny but can now come to grips with the truth.

Side note- The most traumatizing of these was at Six Flags when I was on a first date and "got sick" three times. It was the first time my nauseousness reached that level. He must have really like me, because we dated for 7 months after that. LOL!

2. My bed time is usually around 9:30pm or 10pm. I remember in college we wouldn't go out for the night until 11pm. I still don't understand how I did that 5 nights a week while working and going to class.

3. I wake up in the morning, without an alarm clock, before 8am.

4. I get hangovers sometimes now. If you know me, you know that I never got hangovers and everyone was super jealous of me, no matter how much I drank. Apparently the party is over.

5. All of my friends are getting married. I know this because Facebook tells me so!

6. A lot of friends my age are having kids... on purpose!

7. My youngest brother can now buy his own alcohol.

8. I prefer flat shoes over heels. I never thought this day would come!

9. Most of the time while in Asia, I never do my hair or makeup. I REALLY never thought this day would come!

10. I live out of the country with my fiance. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought I would be where am I today... and I couldn't be happier!

Black Hole

I feel like everytime we've come home, we are sucked into a black hole. I get so excited that we are coming home that I overbook us and completely drain our time and energy- hence the lack of blog postings.

While we have been home this time, I had to get some major wedding stuff out of the way. I managed to order save-the-dates, meet with our reception venue, find a DJ, find Bridesmaid dresses, find a church and wonderful pastor, and (cross your fingers because the appointment is next Tuesday) find a cake lady. I did all of this while training and working for two weeks at Radiant. Gooo me (and my Mom, Jessica and Emily)!! I finally feel like things are starting to come together, which is such a great feeling. I still have no idea why people tell me to enjoy wedding planning because it goes by so fast. What am I to enjoy? Being stressed out? Meeting with a gazillion different people? Trying to get everything done in the short time that I am home? Or shelling out all that cash? Either way, I can't wait to marry the man of my dreams. After accomplishing all this stuff, it really seems like it is happening! Ahhhhhhh!! Sooooo excited!!! **end rant**

Ok, back to the whole black hole thing. While we've been in town, I think that I have managed to have maybe two free nights while we've been home. No free days of course. What did I do? Sleep of course. I don't think people realize the toll it takes on our bodies to go from time zone to time zone and still have a packed schedule. It's funny because everytime I'm in Singapore, I can't wait to get home to see my friends and family but by the end of our trip, I can't wait to get back to Singapore to get some R&R. You always want what you can't have, I suppose.

So, here is my formal apology:
Dear Readers,
I am so sorry that I have neglected you the past couple of weeks. I have been super busy and stressed (which is not an excuse) and promise to get back into the swing of things when I get back to Asia. I would say Singapore, but let's be honest- I will probably be there for like a day before we go somewhere else. Thanks for being so loyal and kind.
Sincerely,
LC

While we've been home, we've done some fun things. I'll make sure to post about each event so you can be jealous! ;)

P.S. To those of you that wanted to see us but didn't, I am so so sorry. I have been so busy, please don't feel like we are neglecting you. I hope you understand. We love you all!
