Emily got the call yesterday while on a mini-vacation in South Carolina, the first time she has taken a little trip since learning that she would need a transplant (go figure!!). In order to make it to the hospital on time, she sped back to Atlanta with a police escort all the way to the hospital (sirens and all!!). They made it just in time and she is getting her new pipes as I sit here and write this.
I wanted to thank you all for your prayers and donations as her family goes through this emotional time. Pray that Emily's body receives the lungs well and for the doctor's wisdom during the operation. Also, please say a prayer for the family of the donor who has given my friend the gift of life. Who would have thought that someone else's tragedy would be our miracle. We can't be more thankful.
