Today is the day. The day that we leave for Egypt and the day of our final weigh in.
As I posted a little over a week ago, Jason and I had challenged ourselves to lose weight before our vacation starts today.
Jason ended up losing 4.4 lbs and I ended up losing 5.2. Technically though, since I first weighed myself this morning right when I woke up, I had only lost 4.1 which means that Jason wins. Not really what I had hoped for (10 lbs) but I am obviously still happy. I mean, we did only give ourselves 17 days so I can't be too upset.
I just hope we don't gain it all back while we are on vacation. Good thing there is a gym in our hotel!!
Anyway, I'll be back after our vacation (hopefully even skinnier!). See you soon!! xx

Trieste, Italy
Our last destination this past weekend was Trieste, Italy. It is a seaport city in Northern Italy on the Slovenian border. For more information and history, click HERE.
We ate wonderful Italian food, drank great vino and had a fun time wandering around the city. I won't bore you with details but here are a few of the 731 pictures Jason took just while we were in Trieste! I guess he liked it?! Always a good time seeing new places, especially with such sweet friends!
And as always, I can't wait to go back!! xx

Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle in Slovenia
On our way to Trieste, Italy from Bled, Slovenia we decided to stop at Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle.
When we arrived to Postojna Cave, we purchased tickets to see the caves as well as the aquarium with cave creatures and then tickets to see Predjama Castle and it's cave underneath. Needless to say, it was a very full day of fun.
The Postojna Cave is a cave systems that is 20km long. We toured about 3.7km of it and it was just gorgeous. All I kept thinking was "Wow, God is awesome!!"
Since you are not allowed to take pictures in the caves, I am posting pictures I found online. We actually followed those rules unlike a ton of other tourists (it was quite annoying). If you would like to read about Postojna Cave, go HERE. Here is what it looked like. It was breathtaking.
Inside the caves are many different types of cave animals. We got to see a whole bunch of bugs and slimy creatures in the Aquarium right outside of the caves. One such animal is the Olm, which is a blind salamander type animal that lives in the water in the caves. It is the largest trogloditic amphibian in the world (whatever that means!). They are pretty gross looking (so Mom, keep scrolling!!).
After visiting the caves, we were off to Predjama Castle, which was really cool. It is a castle that was built inside the mouth of a cave. It also contains secret passageways leading outside the top of the cave, which was a place to store food and retreat if necessary. To read more about it's history, click HERE.
Here are some of the pictures that Jason took. Pictures don't even seem to do it justice!
Overall, our adventure to Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle was a huge success. It sure was a fun day of exploring! xx

Bled, Slovenia
This past weekend, we decided to go to Bled, Slovenia and Trieste, Italy. Jason and Joanna were in town visiting us and we wanted to take a little road trip to show them around.
We left on Thursday afternoon and headed to Bled, Slovenia which is only a little more that 2 hours away from our flat. We had never been but had heard through friends that it was a place worth a visit.
We arrived at our hotel, changed and walked around the city. We took a little hike up to Bled Castle. The view from the top was simply amazing. Lake Bled is just gorgeous and there were so many people out enjoying the gorgeous weather.
We walked around a bit before heading back to our hotel for dinner. We chose a nice spot near the lake that served delicious Slovenian food. The desserts were incredible. So much so that we ordered a dessert platter and then one more each. Delish!! Of course Jason went off and took some pretty amazing pictures during and after the sunset. He is such a great photographer!
The next morning Jason and I woke up bright and early and ran around Lake Bled which was a whopping 6 km. It was a great run and I'm so glad we did it. We got to see the whole lake and area around it. It was such a nice, sunny morning too!
After our run, we walked around the market before heading off to see the Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle on our way to Trieste.
Although we only stayed in Bled for one night, it was very much worth the visit. If you are ever in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by. It is such a charming little town. We are definitely going to go back!! xx
