When we were in the UK a couple of weeks ago, Jason and I had the chance to visit Stonehenge. As you probably know, is it one of the most historic sites in the world. Archaeologists believe that it was constructed between 3000 BC-2000 BC. It was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986. For more information, you can go

The drive out to Stonehenge was so beautiful. It was a pretty cloudy day but the scenery was amazing. There were tons of rolling hills with sheep and the countryside was just beautiful. It looked just like the movies!
Our first stop was Stonehenge where we of course got to get up close to the stones and tour around them. The stones are blocked off by ropes though, so you can not touch them. It was still a very neat thing to see and it is just crazy to think about how old they are and that they are still standing after such a long period of time.
After our visit to Stonehenge, we headed over to Avebury where there are more stones from the same time that you can go up to and touch. We walked around the sheep and got up close to the stones. And yes, I chased some of the sheep. ;) We ate at a nice little pub called the Red Lion Inn, which was very cozy and delicious.
Overall, it was a very successful day learning about Stonehenge. I am so blessed to have been able to go to yet another destination that I have read about in history books.
Here are some pictures.
